Chuck Love – How We Get Down (RTHM Remix)
Wow…this one went through so many iterations before sending it in to Chuck. First off, Mr. Love had some of the best samples to work from (hookaphone to perfume commercial)! Then we got into the skit stuff. BTW, thanks to Christopher Whitsett and Chris Stowe for incredible vocal contributions.
Also be sure to check out Busy’s dub version…

This, along with the original and a remix by Joshua Heath, were all supposed to be released sometime in 2009. We wanted to post this sample up to everyone in the hopes of petitioning for somebody to finally put it out. Enjoy…
Wattie Green – Sea Lion Woman (Real Time Hand Motion RMX)
The long awaited Wattie Green Sea Lion Woman EP is out now on Flapjack Records. Pick it up today at all your favorite house music retailers.
From the Flapjack website:
Flapjack Records celebrates its 5th glorious vinyl release by presenting us with Nashville, TN’s cave jumping, banjo blasting wonder: Wattie Green. In the last year Wattie has become somewhat of a common household name. His fine mid Tennessee cooking can be found in most dj’s recipe boxes. On this edition of Flapjack Records, Wattie Green gives us the kitchen floor filler “Sea Lion Woman EP”, which has been long awaited by many householders this whole last year.
The title track “Sea Lion Woman” is an instant classic. The vocal on this track comes from an old playground rhyme that is unbelievably catchy, full of soul, and even incorporates the original 1939 recording. This vocal over Wattie’s signature beats and bass line mix perfectly like eggs, flour, and sugar, adding more cookies in the cookie jar.
“Mid Tenn Strut” is swing time Wattie specialty. This tune sets the tone with a jackin’ piano base, wily jazzy guitar lead center, and fresh saxophone frosting. Wattie’s niche sound is basted all over this delicious delight.
On the flip side we have our other Tennessee favorites Real Time Hand Motion who take “Sea Lion Woman” to the next level with there smoothed out soul remix. An excellent addition contrasting the original but adding so much more flavor.
Last but not least is Flapjack veteran Bryan Jones remixing the previously released digital exclusive “Bob Speaks”. Bryan’s walking acoustic bass line remix drives home and then back out to the store for some more fixins to fill up the whole family. A perfect mix to round out the meal and a great savory and sweet release to kick off the new year.

Prime Time Man Lotion EP
Side A – Who Got It
Side B – Break Ya Neck
Side B also includes remix by Sexual Chocolate of Break Ya Neck
The Official Writeup:
Hot off the heels of the SPAT005, The Sound Republic’s Ill at Ease 10″, the SpatulaCity crew is proud to present some more fresh talent with Real Time Hand Motion’s Prime Time Man Lotion EP! These two have been making major waves with blistering originals and remixes over the last year or so, and “Break Ya Neck” and “Who Got It” are probably two of the hottest examples of what these guys are capable of. Unbelievable studio trickery in the vein of SpatulaCity label bosses The Sound Republic, RTHM deliver funky grooves, dancefloor firestarters, and were without question one of the most talked-about artists at this year’s WMC. This is only the beginning of what will surely be a long career for this Nashville duo. Chicago’s Sexual Chocolate (of Junky Trunk Records fame) delivers a nasty Dubsided-esque wobbly-bassline stomper of a remix for “Break Ya Neck” while the original funks, shuffles, and grooved its way in to the boxes of all of the underground heavy hitters with massive support from DJ Mes, The Sound Republic, Diz, Raoul Belmans, Justin Martin, the Inland Knights, and more. Keep your ear to the underground and know that when you see a RTHM record, it’s a buy-on-sight affair. These two aren’t messing around. Another stormer from SpatulaCity!
Big ups to Chris & Carson on this release! We are super excited about this one, and hope you all enjoy it as much we do.
Promos will be available soon at Primal SF, Tweekin SF, and Gramaphone Chicago.
Your pals,
TSR
